Ring Knocker Brewing was founded in the Summer of '16 by two old Grads with too much time and not enough money. Yearning for the good old days of just a few months prior, we set out to capture that musky blend of cynicism and nostalgia that comes from being a Midshipman and bottle it into a beer.
We knew nothing about brewing beer, but Brewmaster, MIDN (ret.) picked it up quickly and with a little work crafted our very first brew, "Plebe Canteen." A brewing company by alumni for alumni, a Navy beer! What a concept. The golden nectar bounced around the Ensign community faster than a Plebe late for chow calls and became an instant classic.
Though our dream of opening a brewery looms on a distant horizon, We created this site as a blog to discuss homebrewing from a nautical perspective, to review brews in every port, and to promote merchandise that captures the "institutionalized" spirit of the midshipman we all know and love.
Maybe someday, some poor midshipmen will have to read our bio in a Forestall Lecture as they drift off to sleep; one can dream...
